A seminar about communication and contemporary art closes the european project «The Spur»

Seminar The Spur
  • Renowned artists, art critics, centres directors and other professionals from the contemporary art field, such the artists Joan Morey and Daniel G. Andújar or the journalist Roberta Bosco, will participate in the seminar as a lecturers.

 

  • The event is principally funded by the Creative Europe program from the EU and the Euroregion, and also has received the support from the Palma City Council and the Government from the Balearic Islands.

On Friday 1st June 2018 will take place at Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma the fourth seminar of The Spur ETACEC 1618 project.

The seminar, which has been programmed together with Es Baluard, is titled How to communicate contemporary art? Good practices. Conclusions and results of the European project «The Spur». The event has been organized with the aim to generate a debate space around communication in the contemporary art field, being focused on different agents’ points of view, such cultural managers, artists, journalists… Because of this the seminar’s programme counts with a remarkable variety of names which constitutes a representative sample of the diversity of professionals that take part in the contemporary art discipline.

The Majorcan artist Joan Morey will participate in a round table with the galerist Tomeu Simonet, in which they will discuss about good practices in the contemporary art’s communication, moderated by Nekane Aramburu, director of Es Baluard. After, the journalist Roberta Bosco, from El País, specialized in contemporary art, will offer a conference under title Contemporary art dissemination in the age of silence, in which she will talk about platforms, dissemination and impact. To continue, the artist Daniel García Andújar will talk about how to extend art beyond our borders, crossing the national space and becoming international. As counterpoint to García Andújar speech, Antoine Marchand, director of Centre d’Art Le LAIT (Albi); Murielle Edet, responsible of communication at Centre d’Art Le LAIT; Alejandro Alcolea, responsible of communication at Es Baluard, and Rahmouna Boutayeb, co-funder of Bureau des Arts et Territoires (Montpellier), will hatch the local account of contemporary art’s communication, a perspective in which the different lecturers work daily.

Regarding the Conclusions and results from the European project «The Spur» part, Carme Sais, director of Bòlit, Centre d’Art Contemporani. Girona, organization that leads the project, will open the event with a conference about the developed accions during the two years of The Spur’s duration. Finally, as a closure, Massimiliano Scuderi, professor at the Nuoro University, who has moderated all the seminars of this European project, will present to the public The Spur’s conclusions and contributions, both at European and Island level.
