Residency space
In 2005 Addaya launched an artist-in-residence programme and since then it has welcomed over 50 artists from all over the world. The studio workshop is on the second floor of the centre and includes an adjoining apartment. Artists in residence have carried out projects linked in one way or another to the building, the block or the town, its geography, people and customs and have often directly involved local people. The idea is to bring art closer to people in a more natural, less regimented fashion and to get them involved in the creative process. The apartment has a room with a bed and sofa bed, a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven and microwave. There is also a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Towels and bed linen are provided. Free Wi-Fi internet. The 25 m2 workshop is on the second floor of the centre and gets lots of sunlight.
Being part of a project such as the ETAC (Crossborder Contemporary Art Space) has been very important because it allow us to mesh with other art centers with whom we share interests and being able to provide grant to artists, it is a great help to the development of their projects and research. Also, it represents a unique experience for everyone plus a chance to come into contact with other contexts worldwide.
